This review is from: HomeCare Labs/ Works 03313 The Works Toilet Bowl Cleaner (Kitchen) I used 'The Works' on a couple of toilets that had at least 10 years of calcium deposits. It took some scrubbing, but this has been the only product I've used that actually removes the calcium deposits left by well water. I also wanted to clean the shower. I squirted out some onto the tub floor and left it there. A couple of minutes later I went back and those areas with the gel on them had completely come clean from the calcium deposits. Excellent product. It is a fine cleaner, but when I bought it, "The Works" was advertised as a water mark remover and it doesn't remove hard water build up. I see the price has gone up from the $2.39 plus $7.15 shipping I paid in June 2012. If you want to remove calcium, get a pumice stone. the works works., October 20, 2011 By  JKA - See all my reviews This review is from: The Works 32-ounce Toilet Bowl Cleaner (Kitchen) I was skeptical when I'd tried EVERYTHING including Lime-Away to get rid of the ring in our toilets. I moved in with my boyfriend who really hadn't cleaned the toilets beyond an occasional go with a toilet wand for about a year and a half. The ring was gross and persistent. Finally, after A LOT of online Googling and forum-thread-reading I decided to try The Works. I got the toilet specific kind and holy cow, this stuff is amazing. I squirted it around the rim of the bowl after a quick plunging to get the water level down. Then (I think this is the key to the whole operation) I took strips of toilet paper and placed them on the ring itself and squirted more Works on that so it was making contact with the problem area. Left it alone for a few hours, flushed everything, then some light scrubbing with a scrubby-sponge and Bar Keepers... Our home was built in 1977 and we use salt in our softner and everyting. This is the best ever!!!!! I have used over 10 products before a neighbor recommended this. I wish I would have taken a before and after picture because I didn't even have to scrub the sink and it was the worst! Picture blood from a scary movie running down behind the focet; that is exactly how it looked! I use it in the stool once a week and even for hard water stains on tile in the shower!!! We have well water and have hard water rings built up inside the toilet. I poured it in and let it sit for a few minutes, then scrubbed it with the brush but the rings did not go away. For regular cleaning, I think it works, but not for my hard water rings. Luckily it cost much less at the store (about 1/4 of the price here). What worked for me was a Pumie Scouring Stick from the same store (WM) and that did work to rub the stains right out. However; I have to say the price here is NOT all that great. I just bought the exact same thing at Target for $2.54. That's a savings of 67 cents per bottle (or $8.04 to buy this in a pack of 12). I really doubt whether its natural or not. I dont trust clorox's claims because they are clorox! I use it because it doesnt have a strong smell and make me want to pass out like most bleach products, I am very sensitive to chemicals. It works really well to clean the toilet and bath/shower, so i would recommend it for that reason. Whether or not is natural and safe for humans and the earth i am not sure. It is also cheap to get with subscribe and save. So I never have terribly harsh "baked on" issues. I also like a good fresh smelling toilet cleaner to use when I brush it, and this is very fragrant, coats and clings just as nicely as any other brand, and actually leaves a longer lasting more desirable smell than other brands. When something less chemical based can meet your needs, why would you want more chemicals!? It's a no brainer for me. The only slight difference I found here is that after the flush, the remnants in the water will foam/bubble a bit like a dish soap. After another flush or two you may have some bubbles still. It causes no problems at all and does disappear on its own, but just a little nuance that you might notice. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because the bubbles made me keep flushing. If everyone whose used this does that even once, yeah, wasting some good drinking water ont trying to get rid of...
