It only made a mess in the tank and colored the water. These Clorox tablets however, really do the trick. The water get's a clean bleachy scent and the toilet bowls stay much much cleaner. This works and makes one of the most dreaded household chores (weekly thorough toilet cleaning) a snap. After six months of use found that the toilet leaked water after flushing and you could hear water running sometimes if you listened closely. Replaced the toilet flapper which seemed to fix the problem for a while. Couple of months later, heard leakage again and replaced the water filler mechanism....still leaked....then another new flapper....still leaked....then just purchased a new toilet for $250. Problem solved!
